Question

What is the lodging situation?

Answer

Ogontz has a wide array of lodging styles, from rustic enclosed cabins with private baths to open-air cabins with shared baths. For those who don't want the cabin-feel, we recommend booking a room at the Hampton Inn, about 15 minutes from the camp. To make sure that guests with medical/ safety requirements get the accomodations they need, we will be assigning your cabins. We will do our best to honor your cabin preferences expressed on the Lodging Quiz found in the Lodging Information tab. However, keep in mind that the goal of this weekend is to unplug, connect with new and old friends, and enjoy the nature!

Question

What do you mean by, "rustic?"

Answer

Good question! Here's a little exerpt from the Ogontz website to give you a better understanding. "Our main property is the site of the original Ogontz White Mountain Camp for Girls started in 1923. So many of the structures carry this rich history of almost 100 years and with that still have a lot of what we consider "rustic" qualities to them. With this comes a lot of work to maintain the structural integrity and preserve what we can. You will see the original wood burning stoves used to heat the cabins before cental heat or A/C existed. The majority of our enclosed cabins on the main campus are heated by wood burning stove if needed, but we do have space heaters and fans availble at reception if needed to check out. All cabins have electricty and outlets. The only "open air" cabins are the Adirondack Glamping cabins that are fully screened in and have privacy drapes around the entire cabin that can be lowered. The other cabins are all enclosed and some have shared restrooms while many have en suite bathrooms. While we are constantly upkeeping and maintaining these cabins, we do ask that you understand the significance of this heritage and the fact that a big part of our charm is the ability to step back in to a time when TVs, DVDs, Satellite TV, and iPhones did not exist and experience just a little bit of that nostalgia."

Question

How would we get back and forth from the Hampton Inn?

Answer

The Hampton Inn is about a 15 minute drive away from camp. There is plenty of parking at camp, so you can drive over in the morning and stay all day! There may be a shuttle to bring guests back to the hotel after the reception depending on the number of guests who choose to stay there, but there will not be a constant shuttle throughout the weekend.

Question

What do we need to pack?

Answer

Pack for adventure! Bring clothes for hiking, swimming, kayaking, biking, and relaxing. The weather is typically 70's during the day, 50's at night in June, so bring appropriate layers. We recommend bringing sun protection and bug spray, but we'll have some here for you if you forget. The camp provides bedding and towels, so don't worry about that.

Question

Is there WiFi at camp?

Answer

The main campus does have limited WiFi available by the office and Ogontz Store, but the goal of this weekend is to unplug!

Question

Can I bring my dog?

Answer

Unfortunately, no. Sully and Frankie will be there, but we want you to enjoy the camp without dog care responsibilities.

Question

What is the attire?

Answer

Dress for adventure! For most of the weekend, we will be dressed in comfortable outdoor wear for hiking, canoeing, swimming, etc. We kindly request our guests to wear summer casual attire for the rehearsal dinner and cocktail attire for the ceremony and reception. Lawn-friendly footwear is recommended.
