Jacob and Katharine's story goes back to when they were kids. Meeting in middle school and "dating" back then lead to a longstanding friendship that blossomed into love. Katharine can take the blame for not getting it right the first time, breaking up with Jacob in the middle school after he didn't answer a text message - turns out he lost his phone. Throughout their adolescence they remained close, always at an arms length because the friendship of a decade was too good to risk. In hindsight, sitting on a couch for hours talking about life, values and goals at a high school house party was not the norm. From the outside looking in, Jacob always had a thing for Katharine and Katharine's friends were always rooting for Jacob behind the scenes. They should have known, but life had to teach them a bit before the time was right. The time happened to be a world wide pandemic, when the stars aligned and they were both single and Jacob decided to take a cross country road trip. As the world was shut down and no one could interact in person, he documented his travels on Instagram to have some social interaction. Katharine saw the videos and thought he looked VERY handsome, more importantly she was impressed with how forthcoming and emotional he was outwardly portraying. This would later become one of her favorite qualities about him. So naturally, she slid into his DM's and the rest was history. Six months later they took a road trip of their own, visiting the country's most beautiful national parks at a time the world was unrecognizable. Surviving and enjoying every last moment of this life changing trip was the first hint toward the life they would build together.
