Ever since Dani can remember, Palm Springs has been her happy place. Growing up she would frequently go visit her grandparents - Alyce and Sam Haber - in Palm Springs with her cousins. Dani has the most fond family memories in Palm Springs like learning to ride her first bike, playing tennis, raiding the fridge for fudge grahams, catching grapefruits as she jumped into the pool, and learning heart and soul on the piano with Grandma. While Dani's grandparents are now gone, the first time Dani took JK to Palm Springs and pulled up to their house after a drive filled with pouring rain - a rainbow appeared. Sooo, are they really gone? :-)
Smoke Tree Ranch was founded in 1936 with the vision to build a place where, free from pressures, like-minded people, with their families, could enjoy the desert. Over time, although the Ranch did not advertise or seek publicity, it became known to a cosmopolitan group who, as homeowners (known as "Colonists") or guests, shared the Smoke Tree way of life. Ranch life was kept simple. No effort was made to impress -"Most who have come here have been every place, seen everything, and done most things." Of the approximately 400 acres of Ranch land, 300+ acres are reserved for the Colony and 20 acres for the Guest Ranch. Dani grew up riding horses on the ranch with her cousins.
