On Saturday morning, all guests can partake in "summer camp" activities! This will be a great opportunity to spend casual time with our guests prior to wedding. High ropes course, rock wall, archery, and axe throwing will be provided through certified counselors. The pool will be open and heated to 90 degrees. Enjoy a morning on the lake with the available kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. Hang out with the chickens or goats. Set up a family game of kickball or read a book in the nearby hammock village. Take a seat at the picnic tables to talk with a relative or new friend. Please take advantage of the activities offered! Don't worry - these activities end at 2PM, so there will be plenty of time to get ready prior to the 5PM ceremony.
We rented out the entirety of Camp Ho Mita Koda to bring our favorite people together and celebrate all weekend long! The reception will be held in a covered pavilion. The ceremony will take place in the nearby field, weather permitting.
Think: "outdoor party at the country club" or "summer garden party". We are okay with semi-formal, cocktail, or dressy-casual attire. Check out The Knot website for great examples of each dress code. We will have an outdoor ceremony on the lawn, so comfortable shoes are strongly recommended. Jackets and ties optional.
Guests may explore Camp as much or as little as they would like: the garden, animals, lake, hiking trails, and more. There are no stairs or walking required to get to the reception venue as the pavilion is directly next to the parking lot. The outdoor ceremony will be located in a nearby field. Golf cart transportation will be available to those who have difficulty walking the grounds. *Please reach out with mobility concerns*

We had mutual friends while attending Youngstown State University, so our social circles often intertwined. Dominic sat behind Karina in Anatomy and Physiology class (he is to thank for her stellar attendance that semester). Dominic often drove Karina home from the gym, so she wouldn't have to walk alone at night time (the route home was a short five minute walk on the well lit campus... but she didn't argue). #GoGuins
March 4, 2020!
Dominic proposed on July 21, 2023 at the halfway point of a 6 mile hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. Karina was completely surprised and managed to hike 3 miles back without taking her eyes off her left ring finger. We spent the rest of the week celebrating while exploring Colorado in a campervan.
Founded in 1929, Camp Ho Mita Koda is the first and oldest camp for children with Type 1 Diabetes. It was founded by Henry and Betty John, who were moved to action after working at the Cleveland Clinic. They witnessed the power of insulin to keep children alive, but wanted to help the kids achieve a higher quality of life. Camp's mission is to help children living with diabetes learn lifelong wellness habits in a supportive, active environment that also creates a community of peers. Camp Ho Mita Koda prioritizes the health and safety of their campers through an on-site medical team, a registered dietitian, and trained program specialists and counselors. ”I, like Henry John, do not believe it is enough to keep diabetic children alive. They must be given the chance to share the healthy, normal experiences of life. Ho Mita Koda is one of them." -Betty John
Shockingly, it isn't quite possible to get all of our loved ones together at the top of a mountain... so we started looking for a more realistic place to get married. We had two major criteria when looking for wedding venues. First, we knew we wanted to incorporate our love of the outdoors and camping into our wedding day. Second, it was important for us to have an entire weekend with our loved ones (bonus if people could stay onsite). We realized a summer camp checks off both of these. We started emailing every summer camp in the tri-state area that caught our eye. We loved Camp Ho Mita Koda's mission and their team was phenomenal from the beginning. After touring the camp, we returned to our car and both agreed instantly that this was our venue. "Love at first sight" or whatever they say.
