What should I wear?

Answer

Friday night- Athleisure! Something you can run in and a jacket for when its cooler by the campfire. Saturday night- "Forest Formal" (ie. suits, long or short dresses, but definitely shoes that can handle walking on grass and bark chips!) Sunday brunch- Casual (Just roll out of bed and come say goodbye! Georgia will be in Nike shorts and a sweatshirt)

What should I bring if I'm staying onsite in the cabins?

☑️ Sleeping bag and pillow ☑️ Shower towel and flip-flops ☑️ Practical shoes (should be able to walk on grass/bark chips) ☑️ Running shoes ☑️ Cozy jacket for the evenings ☑️ Bug spray and sunscreen ☑️ Reusable water bottle ☑️ Headlamp or flashlight ☑️ External battery pack to charge your phone (no outlets in the cabins, but there are a few in the communal bathrooms!) ☑️ Swimwear if you plan on heading to the beach on Saturday ☑️ Yoga mat if you want to participate and its easy to bring locally (otherwise we'll have some extra on site)

What food/meals will be provided?

Answer

There'll be dinner and s'mores on Friday, dinner and a late night snack on Saturday, and brunch on Sunday morning! For brunch on Saturday, we'd recommend heading over to either Alice's Restaurant, Apple Jack's Inn, the General Store nearby or anywhere in Half Moon Bay (see the "Things to do" page for more details!). If you're on site Saturday morning and afternoon, you can swing by the Main Hall anytime to snack on apples, bananas, and chips.

Is there WiFi or Cell Reception?

There is Wifi at OVY camp located at the lodge. We will provide information about that at the welcome table upon arrival.  Overall cellphone reception can be spotty on the property. Verizon and AT&T seem to have the best cell reception so please plan accordingly!

Are kids invited?

Answer

Yes, kids are welcome at camp! However, we will not have an onsite babysitter, so please plan accordingly for their special snacks, supervision, and overall needs. And please plan to step away with them if they start to disrupt the ceremony.

Can I bring my pet?

As much as we love your furry friends, OVY camp is not a pet friendly venue. 😿

Will there be parking at OVY Camp?

Answer

Yes! There will be parking on site for anyone staying for the weekend or just coming to the Saturday events! Parking is also available near the cabins for anyone who need to unload their gear for the weekend.

What is OVY Camp?

Answer

OVY stands for Optimist Volunteers for Youth. Optimist Clubs from the San Francisco Bay Area established OVY Camp in 1952 to provide a safe, enjoyable, and educational camping experience for at-risk youth. OVY Camp raises money throughout the year (in part by renting the property for weddings!) in order to give economically disadvantaged youth from the Bay Area the opportunity to have a high-quality summer camp experience at little to no cost. [We renamed it "Camp Georvin" just for the weekend in honor of Georgia + Kevin]
