About the Venue

The Ashokan Center (ashokancenter.org) property was owned and operated by SUNY New Paltz's College Auxiliary Service as the Ashokan Field Campus from 1967 until 2008. The property was then divided with a portion sold to NYC's Department of Environmental Protection and the rest to the non-profit Ashokan Foundation. The Ashokan Center is an independent music & nature nonprofit that hosts educational field trips, and public community events including festivals and music and dance camps. The site has been declared a Historic District on the National and State Registers of Historic Places.
The location was the inspiration for Jay Ungar's song "Ashokan Farewell," which will be played at the wedding ceremony.
The Ashokan Center is a special place for Eddy and Sarah. After touring the venue, they spent the rest of the day hiking their trails and exploring the waterfalls, and they can't wait to share this place with you!
