We met in prison in 2014. Both of us were gainfully employed there--NOT housed there. In case anyone was wondering. I had the biggest crush on Joshua but I told only one person (turns out I CAN keep secrets). I was scared to talk to him because he was way cooler than me. I remember thinking he was so handsome, and it was just the bees knees every time I would hear his calm voice on the radio at work. He remembers the first time he saw me he thought I was "spunky, funny and beautiful." (What a sweetie!!) In the years that followed, our lives took some crazy turns, and both of us ended up leaving corrections and finding other careers. We were friends on Facebook, but we didn't talk much because he always had a girlfriend (Hmph) and I was busy working on myself. One fine day in August of 2019, out of the blue, Joshua sent me an emoji on Facebook messenger. That's right, he's got game. I sent an emoji back (I think it was the poop one, actually...) and after several rounds of sending emojis back and forth because we're cool like that, I found out that he was single (and I may or may not have done a happy dance) and he finally asked if we could meet up sometime. I suggested Scooters (because of course I did), and one day after work we met up. We ended up getting dinner after coffee, and going to Holmes Lake after dinner because we just didn't want to end the night, and I knew that after the innumerable horrible dates I had been on with others, this one was different. One of the first things I said to Joshua at Scooters was that I had no interest in dating anyone, I was happy single and I ESPECIALLY was never getting married again. He said "good, I'm not ever getting married again either." So naturally, we're getting married on October 9th.
