Unlike most DC love stories where the couple meets in a local watering hole on Capitol Hill, we met at our church home, National Community Church (aka the theater church), which meets in theaters across DC and northern Virginia. We attend at the Lincoln Theater location and were introduced while serving together on the Hospitality Team. At NCC, the Hospitality Team is responsible for helping to create a church atmosphere every Sunday morning within the theater by greeting people, handing out bulletins, serving coffee and donuts, taking up the offering - basically all the set up, break down and everything in between. Our first real conversation occurred while counting the offering together following church one Sunday. We covered a lot of ground in that first conversation! Work, family, home towns, hobbies. Needless to say, the spark was there from the very beginning. Every Sunday after that we both made a point of serving on the Hospitality Team, not realizing that we both looked forward to those early Sunday mornings, getting to know one another more, and continuing to grow in our faith. If you want the rest of the story, I guess you'll have to come to the wedding! See you there! Andrew & Amanda
We both grew up with big, loving families. We're both one of four kids and there's roughly 10 years between the oldest and youngest in both families. For the Streets, the order goes Amanda, Jim, Troy, and Mollie. For the Campbells, it's Taylor, then Andrew, Anna Kathryn, and John Michael. To say we have the greatest parents any one could ever ask for is an understatement, and if you know Dave and Liz or Phil and Susan you'll know this absolutely the truth. They are each amazing, and neither Andrew or I would be the people we are today without their support, their friendship, or their example in faith, in love, and in marriage.
Andrew is an avid golfer, and would spend every evening and weekend at the course if he could. I have never played golf, but I'm gaining a new appreciation for it! Andrew grew up in Charlotte, NC, where the rest of the Campbells still call home. He went to the University of North Carolina, Wilmington for college and got his Bachelor's in Finance. Though he expected to stay in finance after graduation, life took him down a different path and into medical sales. He first started out with Hospira, a Pfizer company, which brought him to Washington, D.C. in April 2016, by way of Chicago, IL. Earlier this spring, Andrew joined Becton Dickinson & Co., as a medical sales consultant. Most of my spare time is spent in the kitchen, where I love to bake cakes, banana bread, and a host of other goodies to give away to coworkers and friends. I also enjoy running, and will always love DC for the great running it provides. Running along the Potomac is a regular weekend activity. One of the first things Andrew and I did when we first started dating was run a race together. It was a quick 4 miler, but even without training Andrew naturally paced faster than me. He stayed by my side the whole race though. At the end of every race, I like to sprint to the finish line (which I guess I forgot to mention) and Andrew was utterly shocked that I tried to beat him right at the very end! While I did try to deny this at first, there's a picture to prove it (see Photos). I went to the University of Georgia for undergrad, and then to Georgia Tech for my Master’s degree. After graduating from Georgia Tech in 2012, I moved to Washington, D.C. to pursue my goal of working on health policy. I started working for Dr. Price in January 2013, and I’ve been a part of his health policy team ever since – first as a legislative assistant in the congressional office, then a policy advisor at the House Budget Committee, and now as a policy advisor at the Department of Health and Human Services.
