All of our suggestions below (except Ingleside Vineyards) are in Montross. It is our favorite small town besides Warsaw, where Sarah's family is based. It is less than ten minutes from our venue and we know you will love it too.
We chose this place for our reception because this is where we met. If you walk through the open lawn in front of the Great House, you might even find the tree stump Ricky was sitting on when Sarah first saw him. We love being able to return to the exact spot where our story began. For the entire weekend, all of our guests will get free entry, including tours of the Great House. This place is also excellent for easy flatland walks and bike rides, or head down to the beach to get your toes in the sand and see the historic mill. If you really want to swim, we suggest heading to Westmoreland State Park for the bigger beach or the pool. But if you want a quiet day in the country, look no further than our venue!
Come see why Sarah's family has spent every family vacation here for four generations! You can rent full cabins or camp here, or just swing by for a hike, a swim in the pool or the Potomac River, kayak or paddle boat, or picnic. We had our first date here on the beach and this is where Ricky proposed! Some say you can still feel the romance in the air to this day.
You guessed it. This place is special to us too. We go on dates here, and Sarah's family has been eating here since she was in middle school. The owner even still mentions how nice her grandparents were. Need a break? Maybe a quick bite? Cold beer? Angelo's is a great spot to swing by and grab some pizza or enjoy some small-town local seafood for lunch or dinner.
