How we Met

August 30th, 2018

Campbell and Carter were set up on a blind date through their mutual friend Sam Summers. As their junior year at UGA was getting underway, Sam asked Carter if he would be willing to go on a blind date if she set him up, and he agreed. Sam and Campbell were roommates in Athens at the time and one night while they were hanging out in their living room, Sam asked Campbell if she wanted to go on a blind date with a guy she knew. Sam planned the entire first date and on August 30th, Carter showed up to Campbell's apartment to take her out on their blind date. Sam had planned for us to enjoy a dinner at Taq Del Sol and then Carter offered dessert at Ben and Jerry's and a walk around Downtown Athens. At the end of the date Carter asked for Campbell's number and the rest was history.

Our Dating Story

August 30th, 2018 to January 23rd, 2022

As they began to go on more dates, Campbell and Carter realized they had incredible chemistry and loved being together. Carter planned several fun dates including watching the stars at Lake Herrick, shopping around 5 Points and hanging out at his house, watching each of our favorite movies together. In the coming months they attended football games, Gamma Phi Date nights, Wednesday night services at Wesley, and other UGA events together. Campbell and Carter enjoyed the rest of their Junior year together at UGA before exploring jobs in different states during the summer of 2019. The physical distance led Campbell and Carter to lean heavily on their faith and focus on communicating their desires for the future of their relationship. The remainder of their Senior year at UGA was spent enjoying all that college life had to offer such as date nights, concerts, football games with friends, and deciding what their future would look like. After deciding to return to UGA for one more year to earn their Master's degrees, Campbell and Carter got to enjoy more time spent together in Athens. This final year in Athens allowed us to further lean on each other and prepare for working life, as well as confirming what we had suspected for a long time: we both wanted the other alongside us wherever we ended up.

How Carter Proposed

January 23rd, 2022

In the months leading up to the proposal, Campbell and Carter decided they were ready to get married in the summer of 2022 and Carter took it from there to plan out a proposal. He was able to ask for Mr. Derrell's blessing and for the family ring that came from Campbell's great grandmother. He had planned to reset the main diamond into a new band. Carter was able to pull all of that off and reached out to Campbell's family the week prior letting them know that the ring was finally ready and he wanted them to come to Acworth that weekend to be a part of the proposal. Campbell and Carter take turns visiting each other every other weekend in Griffin and Acworth. It was Campbell's turn to visit Acworth and enjoy the weekend with the Chapmans. The usual routine on Sundays involves going to church and a local mexican restaurant before Campbell would return home Griffin. The morning of Sunday, January 23rd seemed like every other visit, except for when Carter and Campbell left the mexican restaurant to return home to Carter's house there was a surprise waiting for her in his front yard. Carter and Campbell's family worked together to set up a blanket, pictures, and candles for Carter to get down on one knee and ask Campbell to marry him. As they arrived in their driveway Campbell realized what was going on and was elated that this was finally happening! Following the very thoughtful proposal was Campbell questioning who all helped set this up as we had been at church all morning. That is when Caroline popped out of a neighbor's bush with a camera and her family came around the corner to celebrate with them. After enjoying that moment together they began to share the exciting news with family and friends.
