After 2 years of being engaged, we could not wait any longer to become husband and wife. On October 24, 2020, on the campus of Howard University, we said our vows and made it official! Introducing Mr and Mrs Sanders!

This is a story all about how Esmé and Cameron’s lives got flipped, turned upside down. And I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there. I’ll tell you the story of how they became an inseparable pair. Their story begins with Cameron taking a trip to Atlanta for a holiday because just about everyone was in Atlanta for that weekend. It was July 4th weekend 2014. How these two didn’t meet at Howard University will forever remain a mystery. On Cameron’s last night in town, they both ended up at the house of a mutual friend that they did not yet know they shared. Being the true introvert that he is, Cameron posted up and enjoyed the party. Unbeknownst to him, he’d been spotted by a lovely young lady in a bright yellow dress. Being the true extrovert that she is, Esmé took it upon herself to talk to Cameron. Making the first move for the rest of their lives, she introduced herself. Both smitten at once, the night went on. Full of conviviality, laughter, and all-around fun, it ended and Cameron went back to St. Louis. They kept in touch on the phone constantly and unendingly. Luck and fate were on their side. A few weeks later, Cameron had a long layover in Atlanta. Guess what happened then? Their first date took place at an airport restaurant. It all ‘took off’ from there. Distance proved to be no obstacle for the couple. Many meetups and flyouts and moves later they moved in together in June 2017 when they moved to DC for Esmé to start grad school and Cameron to begin a new job. October 24, 2018, on an unseasonably cold trip to Crete, the relationship took the next step. Engagement. So now we find ourselves here: 2 years to the day. Fated and faithfully prepared to be happily wedded.
