Find below good options to arrive and stay in Salvador, Brazil. Also, some tips while traveling:

Flight

Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães International Airport - SSA

Direct flights to Salvador's airport (SSA) are not very common, so the best option is a connecting flight via Brasília (BSB), São Paulo (GRU), or Rio de Janeiro (GIG). The flight to Salvador from any of these airports takes about two hours. Search for flights with the usual suspects: Kayak, Google Flights, Momondo or your preferred airlines. You can also bike or walk but could take a bit longer. ---------------------- The airport is located 25-30 kms from the city. The best way to travel to and from the airport is via Uber which costs around 70-100 reais (US$12-18).

Travel Note

Weather

April is as hot as any other month. So expect temperatures of around 24-30 Cº (76-86 Fº). Check the weather, it might rain a bit too!

Travel Note

Cash or Credit

I spent two years in Salvador and I never had to use cash. Most credit cards are accepted. But you can use ATMs to get some $ or reais. 1 dollar = 5.85 reais at the moment

Travel Note

Electrical Outlets

Adapters are recommended if you want to charge your electronics! In Brazil they use power outlets Type C and Type N. Click View to see a photo of the outlets.

Travel Note

Neighborhoods - Bairros

If you are planning to stay in a Hotel or an Airbnb, here are some suggested locations: - Barra - Corredor da Vitoria - Ondina - Graça

Travel Note

Safety

Just like in any other big city, be mindful of your surroundings and avoid flashing your phone.
