How we met

Work, then come the marriage

We met on a warm, easy afternoon, the kind of day that feels ordinary at first glance, yet quietly carries the beginning of something life changing. I was fresh out of high school, focused on work, minding my business, and simply moving through life with purpose. Meanwhile, Sylvester and I kept crossing paths, bumping into each other as if the universe were gently nudging us closer. At the time, I did not think much of it, but he had definitely noticed me. One day, he finally gathered the courage to say "Hi, beautiful," and let’s just say… I did not give him the time of day. But if there is one thing about him, it’s that he is persistent, not in a loud or forceful way, but with a quiet, steady determination that comes from the heart. When he sets his mind on something, he goes after it wholeheartedly. He was drawn to me, this young woman with hair flowing down to her legs, the kind of woman you notice the moment she walks into a room. Years later, he told me that when I walk, you know it’s me: strong, confident, and carrying myself with authority. He saw all of that long before I ever gave him a chance. Still, he held onto the hope that our connection meant something more than coincidence. Time passed, life unfolded, and the world moved us in different directions only to bring us back together when the timing was finally right. We found ourselves crossing paths again, both newly single, both open in a way we hadn’t been before. He asked for my number, and I gave it to him… except it was my work extension. Of course, he already knew it; he was the one responsible for the network systems at my firm. He looked at the number, then looked at me, and with that quiet, confident smile of his, he said, “Giving me your work number is still giving me permission to call.” He wasn’t just asking for any number; he was asking for my cellphone number for real access to me, but even then, he did not push. He simply smiled, accepted what I offered, and kept showing up with the same gentle persistence that had always set him apart. Eventually, he asked me out again, and this time, I said yes. For our first date, we chose Port Royal, a place that felt warm, familiar, and touched with a kind of magic. Our personalities clicked effortlessly, our spirits aligned, and we sat and talked for hours as though we were remembering each other rather than meeting anew. Something shifted that day. Something deep, something real, something that felt like destiny finally stepping forward and saying, “Now.” He has always been, and still is, the man of my dreams. I never questioned the universe about us not once. Our love is steady, intentional, and rooted in who we are both individually and together. One of our greatest strengths, beyond loving each other fiercely, is how we communicate. We talk, we listen, we grow, and we choose each other with clarity and devotion every single day. And now, after all the persistence, the timing, the laughter, the long conversations, and the years that gently guided us back to one another… We are writing the next chapter of our lives, a chapter built on love, alignment, and the beautiful truth that what is meant for you will always find its way home.
