We substituted a friend's recommendation, a night in a boisterous pub, a random encounter in a bookstore for a few clicks and some carefully selected profiles. What was a very modern approach to meeting still relied on good old fashion chat, a sense of humour, timing, a common view of the world and a love of small islands. This is where our love story began. For a year and a half airport terminals became the norm. We managed once a month meetings in Miami, Louisville, Cayman, Key West and Las Vegas which were all very memorable trips in their on way. Camille took Oliver to the Miami Open, chic Miami restaurants and gave him a wonderful reason to visit Las Vegas for the first time. Oliver took Camille to Hemingway's House in Key West, Sting Ray City in Grand Cayman and for Brontosaurus ribs in Louisville. Whilst all the time their love of tennis, food, travel, laughter, family and eclectic musical tastes were being explored. The question soon became apparent in Oliver's mind that it was not a question of "if" but "when" we would be together.
Both Camille and Oliver grew up on small islands so it was really fitting that their engagement took place by the sea. The beautiful beach at the famed “Pink Palace” of Don Cesar, in St. Petersburg, Florida made for a truly spectacular backdrop. With the evening ocean and sky ablaze with reds and yellows, Oliver proposed. With utter delight and tears in our eyes Camille jumped with joy. When she eventually looked at the ring she smiled in amazement as it was the one that had captivated her last year at a jewelry antique show in Las Vegas.
