How We Didn't Meet and then we did

Sister set up and Mark Zuckerburg

Once upon a time like 20ish years ago...there was a boy and a girl. She was doing an internship in Ogden. He was on a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Norway. They didn't meet. She was in the same singles ward as his sister. She and his sister became friends. He was on a mission. The sister got married, he extended his mission, they didn't meet. The girl moved to Salt Lake to get her Masters Degree. They didn't meet. He came home from his mission and joined the army. She was at the U of U. They didn't meet. He was stationed in California as a Linguist in Chinese. She was studying Social Justice and Child Welfare. She had an internship at Davis Junior High and Valley Mental Health. They didn't meet. He met a girl and got married in Cali. They didn't meet. She dated some guys. She broke up with one and another broke up with her. He had a son in Cali. He was stationed in Hawaii he had another son. He moved to Tennessee. He had another child, a sweet blonde haired girl. He moved back to Utah. He got divorced. He left the army. They didn't meet. The girl graduated with her Master's Degree. She moved to Chicago and worked with inner city kids. She moved back to Utah got a job in healthcare and bought a house. He started working as a police officer. He bought a house. She kept working traveling, making friends, dating and they didn't meet. She started a coaching/counseling business. She was exhausted from dating for 20 years, but kept trying she had some good and not so good experiences- nice guys and crazy ones. He dated but never found "the one." He took care of his kids and started a business too. Online dating became a thing. They tried the "matching" game, the guess who this person really is game, the I'm so much cooler online thing...they both decided to be single. They decided to use their friends to find someone and got on Facebook (yep FB has a dating app). They matched online. He had pics of fishing and hiking with his kids. She was into road biking and hiking. He was on a trip to AZ for a funeral with his family. He noticed his sister was also "Friends" with the girl. He asked her if she knew her she said she was great and she had wondered about setting them up. He started messaging, they discovered the sister as a common friend. She messaged the sister to get a background check, "you brother seems like a good guy, but said you have some good stories about him growing up." She vouched for him. He called the sister and said he went out with the friend. She vouched for her. They met for Japanese BBQ, she took pictures of the food. He thought she was cute and easy to talk to, although somewhat strange for taking pictures of food. She thought he seemed like a "good guy." He walked her to her car. She had another date that week and had a list of guys she was going to date before getting serious. She marked them off as she lost interest or deal breakers came up. He asked her to go hiking. She brought her dog. He took good care of the dog. She was impressed. He was nice easy to talk to and interesting, but she wasn't sure he was her "type." She invited him to hear her speak in Stake Conference. As she spoke he watched on zoom and he knew she had the spirit he wanted to be with. She asked him how he liked the talk. He called her a sweet spirit. He asked if he could help paint her front room. He fixed her plumbing, put in a new light fixture, took her dog for a walk. She started to "feel something." He was different, he loved to serve, he made her laugh, she could be herself with him. He wanted to do the right things. He sacrificed for her. He supported her, He did Yoga with her. He rescued her when she was locked out and helped with her car A/C. She told him she loved him. He said it back. They hiked the tallest peak in Utah (King's Peak) it was glorious and horrible. They did it together. They fell in LOVE.
