We're getting married!

We met through our dear mutual friends in December 2019. We ended up at a post-church lunch together on a Sunday, communicating through both broken English and broken Spanish. We were around each other in church settings until the world pandemic shut everything down for months in 2020 and only saw one another a handful of times in smaller group settings. In September 2020 through Instagram DMs, we bonded over our church releasing a new album in Spanish and in English since we were both practicing a second language through listening to music at the time. We exchanged phone numbers over this bond and texted for a couple weeks before hanging out for the first time one on one, walking around Lake Austin for three hours. Speaking in Spanglish, we had an undeniable connection and shared joy in getting to know one another. A joy we had to continue to explore! We began going on dates, having conversations about what dating is like in Latin American culture and in American culture, and making our own way together. Through much patience and persistence on Esteban's side, after six months of going out, we became official in February 2021. Over the last three years, we have grown in love, admiration, communication, humility and sacrifice through shared joys and shared hardships. We learned (and still are learning) what it is to encounter another culture up close and to embrace differences - through that, embrace each other the way Jesus does. This is only one example of the many factors God has used for greater flourishing in our personal growth, and will continue to do so in our unified life as husband and wife - soon! In January 2024, Esteban proposed and we entered into a promise to be faithful to God and faithful to one another. We look forward to November 2024, when this promise is sealed as a covenant and we get to declare God's faithfulness to us with our community. We would not be where we are today without the encouragement, faith, and support from friends and family. We are so excited to begin a new adventure of marriage.
