A Masterpiece of Time

In 2013, the bustling campus of The University of the West Indies was meant to be a place of lectures, degrees, and the pursuit of individual dreams. Love wasn't on the syllabus. As the Public Relations Officer for Mary Seacole Hall, you were focused on your craft; as the Assistant Treasurer for his block on Taylor Hall, Delano was focused on the rhythm on the investment. The catalyst was simple: I had one task, sell the tickets and return the funds to him. It was a professional exchange between two leaders, a brief intersection of responsibilities that should have ended when the money changed hands. But the universe, it seems, had a different "event" in mind. A lost phone number turned a simple transaction into a relentless pursuit. Delano didn’t just wait for a chance encounter; he searched for the girl from Seacole Hall who had captured his attention far beyond the business of ticket sales. When the connection was finally restored, we chose a path rarely taken in the rush of youth: intentionality. We didn’t dive headfirst into a title. Instead, we became curators of a friendship first. We moved with purpose, making sure the foundation was as solid as the degrees we were earning. We chose to be friends until the friendship became something so profound it couldn't be anything else. Over the last thirteen years, those campus halls have faded into the background, replaced by the life we have built together. What began as a student leadership task has transformed into a masterpiece of time. A relationship not found by accident, but built with care, patience, and a relentless pursuit of one another. From the gates of UWI to the steps of the altar, our story remains a testament to the fact that when you aren't looking for love, you might just find the person who was meant to share your world forever.
