Juan and Mila first laid eyes on each other at a Carvalheira carnival party in the city of Olinda on February 7th, 2016. That day, Juan grabbed her by the hand and said, “let's dance!”, and she accepted! Without her phone number, Juan found her on Facebook the next day, and they started messaging. After a few months, they finally had their first date at a sushi restaurant. They felt mutual attraction and a special connection. They spent the next few months traveling around brazil and getting to know each other until Juan returned to the United States in 2017. After a two-year long-distance relationship, they realized they belonged together, and Juan proposed in New York in 2019. Nesse dia, Juan puxou ela pela mão e disse: “vamos dançar”, e ela foi! Sem o numero de telefone dela, Juan a encontrou no Facebook no próximo dia, e eles começarem a conversar. Depois de alguns meses, eles finalmente tiveram seu primeiro encontro oficial em um restaurante de sushi. Eles se sentiram atraídos um pelo outro e tiveram uma conexão especial. Eles passaram os meses seguintes viajando pelo Brasil e se conhecendo melhor antes da volta de Juan para os Estados Unidos, em 2017. Depois de dois anos de relacionamento à distância, eles perceberam que eram para ficar juntos e Juan lhe pediu em casamento em Nova York em 2019.
