The story of how we met is always a tough one for the guy...I'm sure Cami remembers it a lot different than I do. But, we all know my version is the right one. The first time I was introduced to her was when we were both asked to watch some friend's dogs while they were out of town, but we never met in person during that time. We had just exchanged phone numbers and talked about it on the phone. She text me and said that she would just do it by herself so I didn't have to worry about going over there, I think she just knew she wouldn't be able to resist my striking good looks if we met back then. A little while after that I tried a few times to get her to meet up with me for a drink, but she was always busy with work or school...again with not wanting to see me in person and fall for me. Finally, a group of our friends all got together at the bowling alley in Sturgis and she showed up. I knew that night that she was the girl I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Here we are a little over five years later, our wedding fast approaching and she is still putting up with me. I knew she couldn't resist me.
We were both asked to watch some mutual friends' family pets-- he was assigned the morning shift, I was assigned the night shift. We each had the other's phone number and communicated through text to decide the best way to care for these precious animals. Casey asked me how I wanted to split the time, and I (with my need for control and concern for their safety) said he was off the hook-- that I would just take care of them. A while down the road my dad invited me to go bowling. I was late getting there, and low and behold, Casey was there. Somehow, I was assigned to be on his lane. We bowled, sang along with the jukebox, and talked smack to each other the whole time bowling. That was the night I officially met Casey Kaubisch. I remember telling my best friend and a few close family members that he was the man I would marry one day. We didn't get together for another 2 years. Now he'll tell you all he tried and tried to ask me out all the while.... Either I was too blind to see it or he wasn't clear on his request. Eventually, I was the one to step up and tell him how it was going to be. This guy never stood a chance! ;)
