Things To Do

Part of the reason we're getting married in Austin is so all of our favorite people can get a glimpse into what our lives are like here and explore the city that's become such a big part of who we are - and so Aaron can finally admit that Tex-Mex fajitas, frozen margaritas, and queso are better than California burritos. (He won't, but we're trying.) These are the places we've come back to time and time again over the past 5 years, obviously with some strong opinions on what to order and when to go. Fair Warning: Do NOT underestimate the July heat in Austin. It will show no mercy. If you're outside for more than 15 minutes, plan to jump in water or find AC.

Barton Springs Pool

2131 William Barton Drive, Austin, TX 78746

This is by far our most favorite outdoor spot to hang at in the summer. Crystal clear water that stays a chilly 68 degrees all year round. But most importantly, there's a diving board to hit some sick tricks on. Make sure you go to the closed-off side with the $5 entry fee, it's much cleaner and less chaotic than the free side.

Lady Bird Lake Trail

Lady Bird Lake Trail, Austin, TX

The trail is absolutely STUNNING and where we do all our runs (or hot girl walks), but go first thing in the morning between 6am-10am to avoid death by Texas sun.

Texas Rowing Center

1541 West Cesar Chavez Street, Austin, TX 78703

Skip the hikes and go grab a paddleboard here for $20/person. It's a pretty sweet set-up to dip in the water to see the lake and avoid melting.

Comedy Mothership

320 East 6th Street, Austin, TX 78701

If you have time to squeeze in a late-night show at Joe Rogan's comedy club, we've been dozens of times and have yet to have a bad time.

Spicy Boys Fried Chicken

1701 East 6th Street, Austin, TX 78702

This is one of the many iconic food trucks in Austin. Get the bone-in 5PC fried chicken. We've tried everything on the menu and this is the move. Trust us.

Terry Black's Barbecue

1003 Barton Springs Road, Austin, TX 78704

Tons of great BBQ in town, but our favorite fatty brisket and pork ribs are here. Best to get there right when they open at 10:30am, otherwise you'll most likely be waiting in an hour-long line outside in the heat.

Lupe Tortilla Mexican Restaurant

701 South Capital of Texas Highway, Austin, TX 78746

Best beef fajitas in the WORLD. This is the Tex-Mex hill we'll die on. Cami literally just puts beef and queso in the tortilla - no pico, no lettuce, nothing. Don't knock it till you try it, and don't skip the frozen margarita.

Buenos Aires Café

1201 East 6th Street, Austin, TX 78702

The lomito beef sandwich is the most buttery, melt-in-your-mouth steak sandwich we've ever had. And yes, it's essentially steak in bread, but it's INCREDIBLE. Get the empanadas too while you're at it.
