Joe Bird from New York City (well, Upstate NY to be exact, but he likes the attention so we say New York City). When I first met Joey, I actually didn't vibe with him right away. He thought he could beat me 1-on-1 in basketball so that wasn't going to sit well with me. We looked past our athletic differences and formed a powerful alliance. Talking trash TOGETHER as a team rather than versus is what really brought Joey and I closer. You don't want to catch Joey and I on the same team because you'll either lose, be annoyed, punch Joey in the face, or end up on the wrong side of history.

Tu Es Beau, Monsieur Perrand. A guy who really understands the meaning of "being in the trenches" with you. Don't be fooled, he loves a good comeback story but, he loves it even more when his people win. That's why when Perrand makes it to Hollywood as a fashion designer or makes graphics for all of Hialeah, he will give me a slice of the cake. I can count on Perrand and his beautiful Cuban mustache to meet me for a coffee, croqueta, and perhaps provide the latest Le Labo (unisex) cologne.

Guy needs to become a YouTuber or get his own podcast because I would love to listen in. Oh yeah, and he's going to be a whole father to a baby?! A human being?! When did we get this old. Sakile radiates joy. You see it in this photo! Her availability to go with Cameron every Monday to the young adults service sparked a love for ministry in the bride's heart that has changed her life. Sakile's joy for Christ is contagious. We are hoping her dance moves are too.

Old Faithful. The OG Cuban Papi. Jesus Jorge Hernandez is not someone you want on the opposite team of you. He'll find a way to outwork you. Outsmart you. Outplay you. He's already thinking of your next great idea. A guy who can show you the streets of Miami Gardens but then you'll end up at the Versace Mansion somehow. JJ is down for it all. From group chat lores, Instagram memes, Taco Bell runs, and now South Carolina. My greatest mission is to get him to move back to the promise land here in Miami. He'll be back. Trust me. His next Insta caption will be "I'm Back" like he's the Cuban Michael Jordan or something.

Billionaire. Philanthropist. Entrepreneur. Bruce Wayne. A few names I call Jovani when they ask me who's paying for all the Bibles they're giving away at Crossed Athletics. "Love Me or Hate Me, You Still Watched" is probably written on Jovani's forehead with the amount of fouls, punches, scratches, and head bumps I've seen on this guy's face after a basketball run. Nothing makes Jovani happier than a full plate of organic cage-free eggs from a chicken in Mexico City, sourdough from a bakery in Italy, and the finest slice of filet mignon flown in from Japan. Safe to say Jovani isn't picky. He just has tasted the best so he only wants the best. Am I right? Maybeeee it's up for discussion but we will give him the benefit of the doubt.

My Fellow Texan, Cody and I met down in Edinburg, TX. Aka the Rio Grande Valley or the 956. I instantly knew Cody would be a friend for life when we both shared stories about girls we knew wouldn't be our wives. A guy who I could trust doing a Money Heist or stealing the Mona Lisa because that's how good Cody would be at talking the cops out of arresting us. Oh, it's not about what he would actually say. He would just naturally talk your ear off. Another great thing about Cody is that he shares my passion for the Dallas Cowboys winning the Super Bowl for this upcoming season (and the next season... and the next...and the next...) and you couldn't tell us otherwise (and yes we hate the eAgLeS).

The Last One. What I mean by that is Q will be my last roommate before I get married to Cameron. Q and I have walked through many seasons of life together. What started off as a long ride to Pompano Beach (I forgot where we went but it felt like a long ride) to attend church to getting Texas Road House rolls just for the heck of it. I appreciate Q for his sensitivity and down to earth persona because he truly is a good listener but quick to help in whatever he can. A brother for life.

The Guy who has "a guy" for everything in any situation. I'm convinced Jose is what we call a "Sleeper Agent" with the amount of side quests he does outside of his real job. I can also count on Jose to have a secret bunker in case the world is ending and it's taken over by zombies. Other than that, Jose speaks life into many. He carries and spreads joy anywhere he goes. From the pickleball courts to the Chinese Tropical restaurant he's been dining at since he could walk.

He carries himself like a 45yr old billionaire who wants to solve world hunger but still beats you at your favorite sport. I met Kevin the summer of '23 in Miami at our church courtyard. He didn't even ask for my # or compliment me but instead he just hung with me all summer. I knew Kevin would be a dear friend and someone I can count on with how he carried himself. A dude who truly has conviction and wants to be the best version of himself. He surrounds himself with people who will challenge him and bring the best out of him.

Big Bro. If there is anyone who's always down for a good time it's my big brother. A guy who truly models what it means to have relentless effort. A guy whom I give all the credit for my athletic achievements with little to no resources. From shooting hoops outside in our driveway, countless tantrums I would have, and the first one to believe in me when no one else did. Homer knew I would be "great" or an "athlete" even before I did. I wouldn't be half the man I would be without my big brother paving the way.

A guy you want to be in the trenches with when life get tough. Love this guy with everything I got.

Brian is going to be a great husband one day, and I know he will take care of his family because he was the last one out of the nest.
