This story begins at Cal State Fullerton in the Autumn of 2012, where two young, wide-eyed college students are about to traverse into the adult world. An excited 18-year-old Cameron is texting a friend about his schedule for the first semester of college when he first hears about Summer. The friend tells Cameron about a girl she had met on campus named Summer, who seemed like Cameron’s type. Summer and Cameron would soon be introduced, but the circumstances of their first meeting kept the interaction brief, and they wouldn’t meet again until their friend’s Halloween party a year later in 2013, when they officially became acquainted. Although the attraction was there from the start (for Cameron at least…), Cameron and Summer had mostly different social circles. Consequently, their infrequent, random, once-or-twice-a-year interactions defined the early nature of Cameron and Summer’s relationship. “So close, yet so far,” as they say. They continued to exchange occasional pleasantries as their college years progressed, completely unaware that something beautiful was quietly waiting to unfold, if only given the chance… That chance came in late 2017 when Cameron finally found the courage to reach out with intention. Cameron had interacted with Summer recently, and something just told him the timing was right, so with very little preparation and very high hopes, he asked Summer on a date. That first date was effortlessly filled with laughter, conversation, and a quick and comfortable connection thanks to years of familiarity. What started as a simple outing quickly blossomed into something deeply meaningful, and the two quickly began building on their newfound relationship. Since then, they’ve created countless memories together, supported one another through life’s highs and lows, and have contributed enormously to each other’s growth. This next part of the story begins in the Summer of 2024, when Cameron and Summer became engaged, marking the beginning of a new chapter together. The pages still need to be filled, and they’re still figuring out the adult world, no doubt. But this time they will begin the next chapter with the support and comfort of one another, hand-in-hand. – – – 8 years later, and here we are! We’re so excited to begin writing this next part of our story. Let’s call it, “Volume 2, Chapter 1: The Wedding” and we’re putting all of you on page 1 to help us kick it off.
