As many college couples do, we met on campus while attending NWFSC. Well... we actually met at the school gym. Cameron was working out while Shelby was going to meet a friend. Luck played in their favor because it just so happened that the friend Shelby was going to see was the same friend that was working out with Cameron at the time. Both of us were infatuated and decided that we would have to meet again. Shelby and her friends invited Cameron to Lulu's in Destin where they had planned on going to see a band that night. Little did we know that night 7 years ago would be the beginning of the rest of our lives together.
After six years of making her wait, Cameron finally mustered the courage to pop the big question. In August of 2021 they went on a wonderful trip to Vermont to see Shelby's family. One day during their visit, they planned to attend an East Coast boat building festival at the Mystic Seaport in Connecticut. Cameron decided that it was there - with the beautiful backdrop of sailing boats, hand-crafted wooden vessels, and a quaint little lighthouse - that he would get down on one knee to ask the most important woman in his life to marry him. It couldn't have been a more beautiful day as many worried the festival would get rained out. As fortune would have it, the sun shone brilliantly and the festival was full of life. The day painted the perfect scene for a proposal.
