We've included some of our favorite stories from our relationship below. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we enjoyed experiencing them!
Sav and I have known each other probably since elementary school through church, but we were never close. One summer night, my friends and I wanted to have dinner and listen to live music, and unknown to me at the time, we decided to go to the restaurant where Savannah worked. I saw her from across the room as I walked in, and immediately knew my life was changed forever (believe me, I know this sounds cliche). I couldn't get her out of my head and apparently it was very obvious because my friends encouraged me to go back inside and get her number before we left. Of course, I couldn't be so up front about my feelings with her yet, so I simply got her number by inviting her to church (because how can anyone say no to that). It wasn't until months later that we actually started dating, but I still remember the way I felt the first time I walked into the restaurant.
We've had so many memorable moments over the years, I don't know where to start. From Vegas to cruises to the Blue Ridge Mountains, we absolutely love to travel and experience new places! One of our favorite trips was when we went to Savannah, Georgia. As in true Savannah fashion, she had lined out all the best activities, site seeing, and restaurants ahead of time, and we had the best time walking around the city and exploring the area. You should definitely visit if you haven't already! I can't forget about our annual trip to watch the Tennessee vs Kentucky football game. This has become a tradition we started her senior year of college. We love visiting Knoxville and Lexington and spending time with friends and family (and seeing Tennessee dominate every year)!! Savannah is a HUGE foodie, so I have to include that in this section. One of our favorite activities is cooking dinner together. We've also been trying new restaurants on the 30th of every month leading up to our wedding date as a way to celebrate! How would we keep track of all the restaurants over the years?? Well, I'm glad you asked. Savannah has a spreadsheet for probably everything, but I think her best one is where she lists restaurants in Nashville that we want to try, have tried, and if we'd go back. If you're visiting Nashville, just go ahead and request it from her.
The proposal was a very fun (and slightly stressful) thing to plan. Savannah had been wanting to do a couples photo shoot for some time, so I set it up with a family friend for one Friday while Savannah was on a break from school. Thankfully, she was out of town for most of the week leading up, so I had time to get things set up without her being suspicious. Before the photos, we ate at our favorite Italian restaurant in Hendersonville. I almost gave it away when I asked for the check way too early (but can you blame me, I was so excited to go ask her to marry me). Once we got to the photo shoot spot (yes, we were very early), we met the photographer and starting walking around and taking photos. We got to a field and while we were standing back to back, the photographer handed me the ring. I spun Savannah and as she was spinning, I got down on one knee. If you ask both of us, we don't remember what I said while I was down on one knee (we blacked out), but all I know is when I got up to hug her, I asked "so you said yes right?" We finished taking our photos, and headed downtown. Unknown to Savannah, our family and friends had set up a celebration on a rooftop in Nashville! The next day, I had another surprise in store for her. We had another surprise engagement party with more friends and family! Savannah was so shocked to see her friends from Memphis and Kentucky (who she had facetimed earlier in the day) there to celebrate us. I'm truly so thankful for everyone who came and helped me pull off all of these surprises!
As much as I've loved this season of being engaged, I can not wait to marry the love of my life. As many of you know, Savannah is in her last year of medical school. She's planning to apply to anesthesiology. Once she matches in March, we'll know where we will be moving for the next four years. Check back here in March, I'm sure she'll update this section. I'm so proud of her, and I can't wait to see all of her hard work and dedication pay off. I'm so excited for our future together; May 30th can't come soon enough!
