One could say that the alluring city of Washington D.C. is when Nick and Cameron really "saw" each other for the first time in the 8th grade. From Tim Tebow poses to "I heart D.C." shirts to saying "that is epic" for anything they deemed relatively cool, they really thought that was peak existence-- who knew it could get better from there? Flash forward to sophomore year of high school in Physics class where the heart eyes started again. Was it Nick's role as quarterback on the football team, his suave good looks, his two-year-old Labrador retriever, or was it the super cool '07 Tacoma (that he still drives in great condition) that could take Cameron out for a drive in that allured her? Or was it Cameron's voice that sang tunes all day every day, her preferred strong JV spot on the Cross Country team, an obsession with anything nutrition and health related, or a cute little beagle that Nick could hold that made him think she's the one? They found each other wanting the same things out of life, including their college choices. Cameron and Nick were spotted numerous times riding their mopeds together into the sunset at MSU with one hand on the gas, the other with an ice cream cone, and with eyes always on each other (and the road, of course). Graduation took them to separate parts of the country, but this never wavered their love for each other. The adventures continued with them visiting many sights of California from the Central Coast to the dramatic mountains of Yosemite-- their tried and true favorite. Cameron made many trips back to Michigan as well where they visited family and friends, always having a good time together. Now Nick and Cameron are settled into a home they call their own in upstate South Carolina with a very cute black lab puppy named Pearl. From Michigan to California, to France, South Carolina and beyond, their love for each other knows no bounds.
No joke, Cameron definitely hinted to Nick that Paris was the most romantic city in the world. He fortunately *cough cough* thought that a trip to one of Cameron's favorite places would be a fantastic idea. Together they planned a very special trip to stay in France with a side trip up to London. Nick and Cameron wandered the streets of Paris walking about 10 miles every day-- their preferred way to travel of having some things booked, but just enjoying the city seeing what they would run in to. One of Nick's favorite memories is window shopping for food. They visited the same bakery every day (sometimes twice). Cameron also remembers fondly visiting sites as she did in 2019-- from Alain Ducasse chocolate to the breathtaking viewpoint of the Sacré-Cœur-- now even more special with the love of her life. What was really special, though, and what you've all been waiting for, was the proposal. They awoke on their second day in Paris at about 2am because of the jet lag (and perhaps valid nervousness from Nick). Nick suggested they get up before sunrise, find some petit dejeuner and walk to a really beautiful spot to see the sunrise. While the breakfast was phenomenal, we were greeted with gray skies and some rain-- no sunrise for us. That did not waiver Nick's master plan, though, and neither did the unwanted fencing and graffiti they were presented with at the intended proposal site. They walked hand in hand down the steps of the Trocadero to a breathtakingly perfect view of a the Eiffel Tower. Even though there are millions of people in Paris, no one was around for this special, intimate event. Nick said some beautiful kind words, asked Cameron to marry him, and she said, "Yes, of course!" After 15 minutes of post-proposal bliss, other people started to arrive and they asked for photos by a stranger. Nick and Cameron then walked around for hours taking in the sights and beaming with their love for each other. Something else special happened when they reached Arc de Triumph by foot-- snow! This day, and the entire trip, was incredibly special and perfect.
