We met in the fall of 2016 during orientation at The Dental College of Georgia. We were classmates that circulated in the same friend group who enjoyed going to minor league baseball games, slice night at Pizza Joint, and beers at Savannah River Brewery. Our first date was February 14, 2017. We got takeout from Kroger. I brought the wine and he brought the beer and we watched one of our favorite movies, "August Rush." It's been a whirlwind ever since.
It all began with grand plans for an extravagant surprise engagement. I was dead set on this being a spectacle that Cameron would never forget. What I DIDN'T plan on was my big mouth getting in the way of all possibility of a surprise. Initial thoughts were on top of a mountain in Colorado over spring break, or possibly hiding the ring in the batter during our brief blueberry scone kick. However, I slowly but surely (albeit unintentionally) gave hints of popping the question in Denver, as well as decided I wasn't quite a fan of the risks involved with baking an engagement ring. In the end, after a nice dinner with friends, I suddenly decided "this is the night" on February 22nd. I threw away the need for spectacle and surprise and realized all I needed was myself, Cameron, and the ring. I seized an opportunity to get Cameron a glass of water, poured myself some whiskey, and asked her the question that began the rest of my life.
