While many amazing towns in the area are accessible by train, to truly get the most of your time in the region we recommend renting a car.
Nîmes
Dubbed the most Roman city outside Italy, Nîmes has a quaint city center full of boutiques, restaurants, and multiple Roman monuments. All of this makes it an excellent base for your stay during the wedding festivities.
Pont du Gard
Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct. It's a great place to be outdoors and walk around.
Arles
Arles is famous for being the backdrop of many Van Gough paintings, and is a very picturesque town to walk through.
Avignon
Avignon is a charming and well situated town in Provence known for its medieval history (former home to the pope). We spent a couple months here in 2021, and absolutely loved it for its proximity to the rest of Provence. Above is a photo of us with our Airbnb hosts enjoying the annual wine festival, santé!
Les Calanques
One of the most beautiful places we've been. Amazing cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean Sea near Marseille, which is a great stop as well!
L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue
The most incredible Sunday market in a quaint town full of antique shops and great restaurants. Highly recommend a visit here.
Gordes
One of the most beautiful villages in France, Gordes is situated in a picturesque perched viewpoint and filled with charming streets. It’s located in the Luberon area of Provence, home to many more quaint towns and beautiful drives.
