How We MetHow We Met

What started as middle-school friendship has become a lifelong partnership — one built on laughter, faith, and deep love.

Some love stories begin with a spark — ours began with friendship. We first met at Lee Middle School in San Angelo, Texas, when we were just twelve years old. We quickly became close friends, always laughing and teasing each other between classes. Somewhere along the way, Cam developed a huge crush and even told me one day — but at the time, I thought we were better off as friends. Life took us on different paths through high school. We both dated other people and grew up in our own ways. Still, we always remembered each other with a kind of quiet fondness. Years later, fate — or maybe a little divine timing — brought us back together. My best friend Amy and I planned a trip to Honolulu, Hawai‘i, where Cam was stationed with the Army. From the moment we reunited, everything felt effortlessly familiar. We stayed up talking, laughing, and realizing how much we had both grown — yet how natural it still felt to be together. Before we knew it, we extended our trip. One night, Cam surprised me with a private sunset cruise — a romantic evening with a three-course dinner, music, and ocean views. Under the stars and surrounded by the sound of the waves, he asked me to be his girlfriend. We’ve been together ever since — me pursuing college and him serving in the Army, both cheering each other on as we chase our dreams. We share a love of humor, ambition, and kindness, and every day we’re reminded that timing truly is everything.
