Our Love Story

Cameron and Brigitte’s love story may sound like the plot of a Hallmark holiday movie—with a whirlwind three months from dating to marriage—but their story actually began more than a decade ago.

It all began when Cameron and Brigitte served as 2LTs together in the 368th Military Intelligence Battalion in Camp Parks, CA in early 2014.

Brigitte had just commissioned and completed BOLC, and Cameron had just transitioned from Enlisted to Commissioned Officer through OCS. The two quickly became friends.

To avoid the long drive back and forth for drill weekend, Brigitte usually stayed with a battle buddy. One weekend, when plans fell through, Cameron offered her his couch to crash on.

On Feb. 18, 2017, Cameron asked Brigitte to join him at the Chabot Space & Science Center for the Star Trek exhibit. There were sparks—though it unclear to Brigitte if it was a date.

Later that year, Cameron accepted ADOS orders in Stuttgart, beginning what would become years living in Europe. Brigitte helped him pack up his apartment, and then they said goodbye to each other.

Over the years, they stayed in touch with occasional texts and check-ins. Cameron invited Brigitte to visit many times, but life and timing never quite aligned.

What began as a friends’ trip turned into something more after three days of wandering arm in arm through the streets of Paris and eating ALL the cheese...

On Dec. 15, 2025, Cameron made his move, and the two shared their first kiss in Paris, France.

Cameron leaves Brigitte with her friend Jillian while he returns to work. As the girls explore the Black Forest, Cameron sends Brigitte a postcard that will arrive after she returns home to Kansas.

After Jillian flies home on December 18th, Cameron reunites with Brigitte in Stuttgart, Germany. With the last leg of the trip, just the two of them, they begin falling for each other.

Dec 20th, on the drive to Luxembourg, Cameron asks Brigitte if she would ever consider moving to Europe so they can date. She says yes.

After visiting Arlon, Belgium, and Wiesbaden, Germany, Cameron and Brigitte return to the States for Christmas with their families, agreeing to do long distance until Brigitte can move to Europe.

December 30, Cameron flies to visit Brigitte in Kansas City. When Brigitte picks him up at the airport they tell each other "I love you."

On January 1, 2026 Cameron asks Brigitte to marry him. She says yes, tentatively... He still needed to get her parents' blessing.

And so Cameron and Brigitte began their "secret" engagement long distance. Cameron still needed to get Brigitte's parents blessing... Which he received on Feb 22.

On February 28th, Brigitte packs up her apartment in Kansas and begins her move to join Cameron in Kaiserslautern, Germany, officially arriving on March 13th after visiting family.

March 14th, Cameron and Brigitte take off to Catana, Sicily.

On their last day in Sicily, together Brigitte and Cameron climbed Mount Etna.

Unfortunately, they forgot their sunscreen. (Aftermath of a climb above the clouds!)

Brigitte finally made it to her new home with Cameron in Kaiserslautern, Germany on March 22nd.

One March 30, 2026 somewhere in Montana, two strangers said "I do" in proxy for Cameron and Brigitte so that they can claim to be legally married.

To celebrate being legally married and Brigitte's birthday, they traveled to Bled, Slovenia.

They hiked hand and hand all around Bled with Brigitte's sister's family.

Brigitte and Cameron went back to Stuttgart, Germany to celebrate Frühling Fest.

To include dancing on the tables in a biergarten.

On April 11, Cameron finally got the ring he custom made for Brigitte and gave his wife a proper proposal. He got down on his knee, said all the things, and she cried.

Cameron had the coordinate of the first place where they kissed engraved on the inside of Brigitte's engagement ring.

Brigitte and Cameron are excited to continue to write their love story and fill it with lots of adventures, laughter and memories.
