It started out as what was supposed to be just a regular “date day” to celebrate our upcoming graduation. Afton had been harping Cameron for weeks that she wanted to reminisce about their college days before life got busy! Little did she know he had bigger plans for the day! They started their day at Mickey’s Dairy Bar, which for anyone that knows Madison knows it is a Badger’s must for breakfast on the weekends. After breakfast we made our way towards the lake and Dejope. We reminisced about our first year in the dorms and all the memories we shared in those hallways. We made our way outside the doors and were going to start towards picnic point and Afton decided she was going to use the bathroom before we left. Perfect opportunity, honestly. Looking back, had she not gone to the bathroom Cameron would not have been able to plan any of the proposal! As she walked out of the bathroom Cameron had already walked down by the boat launch that we used to walk down when we lived at Dejope. He was standing out past a bench and called for Afton “come here I found another arrow head!” 4 years prior we found an arrow head at this same spot. It was at this moment Afton knew something was up! She shakily went towards him and blindly walked right passed his phone that was recording. As she got to him he pointed at the ground. Sitting there was OUR arrowhead rock. Afton said “that’s funny it looks just like ours” and Cameron said “well actually...it is yours.” As he got down on one knee and asked “Afton, will you marry me?” Afton was in such shock she dropped the rock and started, of course, crying! Obviously she said “yes!” and the rest is history. St Patrick’s Day and our special bench by the lake will forever hold a place in our hearts.
