Tara went out for dinner & drinks with colleagues after a long day of meetings. Cameron was their server, whose recommendations were well-received. They talked the rest of the night. Though Tara officially resided a thousand miles away in New York City, they saw each other often over the next year. Live music, bicycle rides, and many, many pastries were shared. Cameron moved to New York in September 2013.
Tara said yes in a belltower on a hilltop in Piedmontese wine country when Cameron presented her with a trinity ring that was once her grandmother's. Cameron said yes at the end of a centuries old road on a mountain lake north of Milan when Tara counterproposed with a hand-hammered band she commissioned.
Our wedding wasn't what we imagined after we got engaged at the end of 2019, but we wouldn't change a thing. It started with a scheme to be wed by Elvis in Vegas, and became something else entirely. Our friend Marie became ordained so she could marry us, and our ceremony in the Mojave Desert near Joshua Tree National Park was attended by our parents. We shared a quiet day punctuated by birdsong with bright sun, big boulders, and long shadows. Dinner and dancing were lovely, but far too short, and none of you were there... SO we hope you will join us for this year's celebrations!
