How We Met

8.16.2018: Told by Cameron

On my first day of law school in 2018, I didn’t know a single soul except my roommate. Thankfully, he introduced me to a cute girl he knew from his undergraduate classes at Georgia—Ali Valero. Ali and I quickly became inseparable. We joked that she was my personal assistant; she took the best notes, remembered all the page numbers, and reviewed all the cases with me. As we became best friends over the first year, I found myself wanting to spend more and more time with her. I’d come up with excuses to have friends over just to see her. After about a year of trying my best to focus on law school, I couldn’t do it anymore. I asked Ali to be my girlfriend. Since then, we have been absolutely inseparable. We took every class together and have spent just about every minute with one another. And I’ve never been happier in my entire life.

The Proposal

12.30.2020: Told by Ali

On the day after Christmas, Cameron and I left for a week long vacation with my family in the Keys. My dad told us upon our arrival that he made a reservation for all of us at a nice restaurant about midway through the week. On the day of, I began getting ready for dinner. Cameron pestered me to hurry up claiming "we're going to miss the reservation!" Annoyed, I pulled myself together and announced I was ready to go. My mom suggested we take some family photos by the ocean. Knowing that we didn't have any recent family pictures, I didn't think much of it. After a few family shots, my mom suggested we take couple photos. As we posed in front of the water, my sister took our picture. Before I knew it, Cameron was on one knee asking me to marry him in front of my entire family. Of course, I said yes! Turns out, Cameron enlisted everyone in my family to help with the proposal. My dad was in charge of giving me a reason to dress up. My mom was suppose to suggest a photoshoot without suspicion. My sister needed to take the pictures. My brother and his fiancé were asked to videotape the whole thing. I am so blessed to have such a special moment captured forever. I am beyond grateful I got to share such an important moment with my family, all thanks to Cameron. It could not have been a more meaningful proposal, and I cannot wait to become Cameron's wife.

For all the days along the way
