It all began on a disastrous North Carolina camping trip to Huckleberry Knob. Our mutual friends agreed to go camping the same weekend a hurricane was hitting the coast. One would think we would be smart enough to cancel the trip after hearing the news but we all decided to risk it anyways. Who would've thought Cam's lack of common sense would land him a fiancé? This storm was so intense that it blew down a few of the tents and rain-soaked everything inside. The tents were so damaged that there was no way to fix them in the middle of the night. Luckily, there was a small tent still standing just fine...it was Camden's. Cam was kind enough to offer his tent to the ladies in distress. The storm outside did not allow much sleep to happen among the group but it did create an opportunity for two strangers to talk and get to know one another. It didn't take much time after that trip for us to become inseparable. We both never would have thought that something so chaotic and spontaneous would lead us to eachother.
Let's just say it was not the most ideal weather for a trip to Lake Tahoe but that hadn't stopped us from camping 2 years ago so why would it stop the proposal now? After months of ordering decor, calling friends, and drawing up plans and schedules, it was time to ask her the big question. The day started with electric scooters in South Tahoe and grabbing coffee. Eli and I planned to distract Des long enough for my family and Destiny's friends to set up an elaborate picnic on the beach. With the picnic set up and ready, the only thing in the way was the rain that was drizzling over Zephyr Cove. The schedule went as planned and soon we were sitting at dinner with Destiny's parents and brother. T-minus 60 minutes until the proposal. We left the restaurant to "watch the sunset" and made our way to Zephyr Cove on Tahoe's eastern side facing the sunset. After wandering around the beach, we eventually got to the spot I had imagined for months and knelt down on one knee. She began to cry before I could get a single word out. She said yes and pulled me up to kiss and hug me before anyone could get a photo so I strategically got back down on one knee to put the ring on her finger. After the question was asked, the two of us made our way over to the picnic complete with candles, charcuterie, and throw pillows. It went so smoothly and best of all, the sky opened up to reveal yet another beautiful Tahoe sunset. After some time alone, friends and family came out for photos and to congratulate us. The whole group made their way back to a rented cabin where the after-party took place. Couldn't have asked for a better proposal for my perfect fiancé.
