Not every love story begins with fireworks. Some begin with a laugh, a debate, and a phone number you did not even know you already had. Nigel and Camari met in the summer of 2016, both stepping into a brand new chapter at the University of Central Florida. They had noticed each other briefly before, but it was one summer night at a small get-together with mutual friends where everything changed. What started as a playful argument about whose high school was better, Camari's Stranahan or Nigel's Blanche Ely, turned into subtle glances and smirks exchanged throughout the night. When everyone began to go their separate ways, Nigel asked for Camari's number. Both of them laughed when they realized he already had it, saved from a freshman group chat they had both been added to. God had already orchestrated this introduction, and He must have known it was too special to happen over a text. The deeper their friendship grew, the more they realized just how intertwined their worlds already were. Not only did they go to high schools just minutes apart, but both of their families were rooted in South Miami. Camari and Nigel often joked that they had probably already met as kids, since they visited the exact same church with their grandparents on multiple occasions. They had been orbiting each other their entire lives without ever knowing it. They just needed to travel all the way to Orlando to finally find each other. They took their time getting to know one another, enjoying every moment of what was becoming something more than just a friendship. In December 2017, they made their debut as a couple, and the rest is history. On May 24th, 2025, surrounded by their closest family and friends, Nigel got down on one knee and asked Camari to be his forever. Of course she said yes! The years that Nigel and Camari have grown together have been nothing short of amazing, and the best part is there are so many more beautiful memories to come.
