Yesterdog
You have never had hotdogs like these- they don't get better than this. Vanessa has been coming here since 1993 and the quality hasn't changed. You'll appreciate not only the incredible food but the charming vintage atmosphere (and pictures of celebrities who love it here- including President Obama!). Just remember to bring cash because they don't accept credit cards!
The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum
President Ford was from Grand Rapids and lived here before and after his presidency. This Presidential Library is a fascinating and well-done presentation of not only Ford but World War II and the Cold War. And it's conveniently located about one minute away from the Amway!
Frederick Meijer Gardens
Meijer Gardens is "one of the nation's most significant sculpture and botanic experiences." The best part of Meijer Gardens is the butterfly exhibit where butterflies land on you!
Grand Rapids Public Museum
Like the Ford Museum, this museum is about a one minute drive from the Amway Hotel. This is a great place for history buffs, but the best part is the huge dinosaur skeleton in the middle of the museum!
Electric Cheetah Cascade
This is the best restaurant (besides Yesterdog) in Grand Rapids! They have healthy, organic food at a reasonable price. And the decor inside is really fun!
Brewery Vivant
Have you ever wanted to have a beer in an old church?! Well, you've come to the right place! Vanessa and Cam come here everytime they're back in Michigan not only because of the early 1900s church-turned-brewery environment, but the beer is also great!
