We met through an online dating site. Our first date was after work on a Friday evening for coffee in Canton, Michigan. From the time they met Cam knew Margarita was the one for him and told Margarita that he knew she was "a keeper" from the very beginning. A funny thing happened in the parking lot when saying goodbye on the first date. Maybe it was because Cam was still wearing his dress clothes and sport coat, maybe Margarita was nervous... who knows. When it was time to say goodbye Margarita offered a firm business handshake. After a surprised look on Cam's face Margarita got a bit embarrassed and gave Cam a big warm hug. We still laugh about that firm handshake on our first date.
We went out on our first date night after the long and cold spring finally ended. We got dressed up as we enjoy doing and dined at Fourteen on Riverside Drive in Windsor, on the waterfront, and right across the river from downtown Detroit. It was a beautiful night. Dinner was great and the service was excellent. Cam had a plan to take a walk along the river after dinner and to ask a stranger to take a photo of he and Margarita in front of the Detroit skyline while he asked for her hand in marriage. While there were skateboarders, fishermen, joggers, and a prom party on the river walk, he didn't see anyone that looked responsible enough to take such an important photo. Then, out of the distance on the river walk, in a city of 200,000 people, came Cam's youngest brother Jarred, who was getting some evening exercise. Unbelievable coincidence! Cam asked Margarita to stand by the railing with the Renaissance Center in the background. Then, he walked over to his brother Jarred, handed him the camera and with an assertive voice said "I'm going to ask Margarita to marry me. Get some good pictures!!!" It was meant to be! It worked out better than Cam had planned. We are so glad that we bumped into Jarred and that he was able to be there to share the special moment with us.
