The past few years I had seen Cameron at church every so often. I knew his parents but never really had the chance to get to know him. I had invited him to come play volleyball with some friends, but to my dismay, he never accepted my offer. In his defense, he was in and out of Tyler and then moved to Lubbock to finish school, so he wasn't going to be around long term. In December of 2022 Cameron moved back to Tyler after graduating from Texas Tech and we happened to see each other the next Sunday at the Kids Christmas play at our church. We didn't really talk but I definitely noticed how cute he was and was interested in getting to know him. That same week, his parents, David and Marlynne, invited my parents and me over for dinner. I had a feeling this was a set up of some sort, and debated if I should even go. Thankfully, I decided to go and not think anything of it. After dinner and playing dominos for hours, I knew Cameron Finch was someone I wanted in my life. We laughed and joked all night and I felt such a peace in his presence. The next Sunday at church I invited him to a game night at my house. I honestly didn't think he would show up because he didn't know any of my friends, and hardly knew me, but he came! In fact, he was the first one to show up. After talking a bit, I found out he had gotten a job in Dallas and would be moving in the next few weeks. I didn't think I would have a shot with him, because who would want to do long distance?? That night he met almost all of my friends and he fit in so well. The next few weeks I would see him at church, and we would have short conversations. One day I just decided to text him and put out some feelers. Well after a brief conversation, Cameron asked me to go to dinner! I was so excited! I think I literally fell to the ground LOL. We went on our first date on a Friday night. We had dinner and really good conversation but I found out he was leaving for Dallas the NEXT DAY. I was a little bummed and came home thinking that this wasn't going to go anywhere since he was leaving.. The next day I texted him thanking him for the date and we haven't stopped talking since! Cameron is my best friend, my confidant, and the love of my life!! I still can't believe I get to marry him!! CHEERS TO THE FINCHES!
