Seth and Calyn both relocated to the beautiful city of Chicago after graduation as part of a teaching program. Among a cohort of over 200 people, neither would imagine that one drunken night would bring them together. After a long week of teaching summer school, both ventured out separately for a night on the town. After a few too many adult beverages and a little too much dancing, Seth hailed a taxi back to the dorms where all corp members were housed for the summer. Calyn was already back in the lobby awaiting a large pizza (shocking) with a bunch of new friends when she saw a disheveled man walk in alone. This man was Seth who was on the verge of getting arrested by a taxi driver because he realized that he had lost his wallet and had no way of paying for his ride. In slurred words, Seth asked for help covering his cab to Calyn and her not so sober friends. Eventually money was pulled together to help Seth pay for his cab which he drunkenly paid back in the form of a check that evening. Fast forward two years and two school years later, the couple would later reunite when Seth showed up to a party that Calyn was hosting for her roommate. Calyn recognized Seth and called him out for his infamous taxi ride. The rest is history.

Thanksgiving is Calyn's favorite time of year. She gets to go home and spend time with her favorite people -- her family. In addition, the infamous Michigan vs Ohio State game aligns with that weekend; which is always a blurred blast of tailgates, jello shots, bar crawling downtown and a night that ends with the whole fam at the Fleetwood Diner. Seth attended his first Dolan turkey day bash in November 2015 and was properly initiated by Tommy D and the boys. He knew at that point that Thanksgiving break would be the perfect timing in the future to pop the question and add to an already wild weekend. Seth was CORRECT. Already asking the most important people in her life over the summer, Seth meticulously planned the engagement. The two often venture to Calyn's favorite spot in Ann Arbor, the Arboretum where they enjoy walking their fur baby, Moose. On the morning of November 22nd, Calyn expected nothing. She threw on some workout clothes, popped on some ear muffs and sunglasses and headed for coffee before hitting up the "arb" with her soon to be fiancé and Moose. Little did Calyn know that her favorite holiday weekend was about to get even better. As they were approaching her favorite spot in the forest, Seth asked Calyn what the new dog tag on Moose's collar was. Calyn quickly responded with "probably his rabies vaccination or city registration." He urged her to look closer at the dog tag on Moose's collar as he got down on one knee. The dog tag read "6.26.15 (the day they met) 7.19.15 (the day they started dating) and 11.22.17 (the day of the proposal)" Completely and utterly shocked, Calyn was at a loss for words as her sister emerged from behind a trash can and Seth and Calyn's former roommate and besty, Manley, came out from behind a tree. Both were FREEZING; they had been waiting in the woods hiding for over an hour. The wait was worth it as they witnessed what is now Calyn's favorite day.
