We met in High School over Facebook messenger. I actually messaged him first to make the first move because I thought he was cute. He responded and we made casual conversation and nothing really came of it until a few weeks later when he asked me to hang out. We shared lots of crazy adventures and laughs but unfortunately went our separate ways due to our age differences in High School. We reconnected in 2016 when I moved back home and Calvin messaged me on Instagram telling me how pretty I was and told one of my best friends “Damn I should have married her when I had the chance.” We started dating and hanging out nights after work and weekends. It was like no time had passed. We dated for a few months until February 22nd 2017 he asked me to be his girlfriend! The past five and a half years have had their share of ups and downs but there is no one else each of us would rather have at the end of every day for the rest of our lives.
Our proposal story is very special to us. It was a Saturday in downtown McKinney, I thought we were just getting dinner with Calvin’s family. But then Calvin’s mom, Kim suggested that we invite my parents so, I was a little hesitant as I knew my parents had plans that day but I asked anyway and as luck would have it they came! Everyone enjoyed some wine at Landon Winery then planned on going across the street for a bite to eat. As we all crossed the street and made it in front of the courthouse Calvin whom was behind me said “hey babe” and I turned around to find Calvin on one knee asking for me to marry him. He was so nervous and I was overwhelmed with joy and said “yes”. We kissed and I turned around not only to see both of our families whom we had been with for wine but also my grandmother and Cameron, all of our closest friends and a professional photographer taking photos of the whole thing! It was truly the most magical day.
