When we first caught each other's eye, Christopher was manning the grill for the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) during our missions fundraiser on Gold Rush weekend in Dahlonega. I asked who the intern was but he turned out to be a freshman! Looking back we can see that the Lord placed us strategically and we were always in the background of each other's story. We both participated in the same collegiate ministry and even traveled to New York and Mexico on the same mission teams to serve others out of our love for Jesus! We didn't keep in close contact when I graduated college (I was a year ahead in school) but we ran into each other at a Hillsong concert the summer of 2016. Christopher saw my snapchat story about being at the concert and texted me. Funny part is that I actually replied "new phone, who's this?" (It was true though!!). He told me to look for him in the crowd that he was waving but I couldn't really see him. THEN THE HEAVENS OPENED AND ALL THE RAIN CAME DOWN!! Every one was soaked at the outdoor venue (who remembers Lakewood?!) and scrounging for shelter. When the storm past, we "accidentally" ran into each other soaking wet (and not like you see in the movies!) and we caught up for a few minutes. Surprisingly, he asked me out to lunch the next weekend. I already had plans to go paddleboarding and brunch it up with the gal pals so I politely declined the invitation. At first. Then after discussing it over at brunch with my gals, I thought the more the merrier right?! So I extended the invitation for him to join not thinking he'll actually accept the invitation to hang out with the girls. BUT. HE. CAME. Paddleboarding had to be rescheduled because of an afternoon thunderstorm (again with the rain!) but he used this as the perfect "excuse" to ask me on a date just the two of us ...to go paddleboarding. Well, good friends, we've been inseparable since!
