Robert planned a special day at the Cape May Zoo, where he and Samantha would have a private giraffe encounter — her dream come true. True to form, they were running late, sprinting through the zoo and sweating, unsure if they’d even make it in time. While Samantha stressed, Robert was secretly emailing the zoo to push the time back without giving away the surprise. They made it just in time — and were the only two signed up for the encounter (with a full audience of families watching). Samantha was completely enthralled by the giraffes, smiling and covered in leaves and bark as they leaned over her head to eat. Meanwhile, Robert was nervously asking a million giraffe-centric questions... and realized he had left the ring in his backpack. Even when the zookeeper tried to tee him up, he had to stall. It wasn’t until afterward, sitting on a quiet bench in front of the giraffe enclosure, that Robert pulled out the ring and asked the question. Samantha said yes. They cried, hugged, and were cheered on by strangers passing by. They ended the night with champagne and a comedy show in Atlantic City — a perfect celebration of their love, laughter, and some very patient giraffes. 🦒
