How we met

First comes coaching, then comes marriage.

Joshua Miles knows everyone in the room and if he doesn't initially, you are bound to get a handshake and a big smile in your near future. But my first experience was quite different. I was coaching on the sideline at Brentwood Academy when Joshua took a trip to the scores table, mid-press break, to nudge me slightly - apologize kindly - and catch my eye. I leaned over to my assistant coach at the time and said "Who is that?? and Mid-game REALLY??". *Secretly, I was intrigued. After Joshua's ever-so-sly run-in, God continued to put us in the same rooms, gyms, and organizations. God protected us from committing to each other too early as he grew, healed, and captivated our hearts for His glory. Time, dependence on Jesus' voice, and a whole lot of faith opened my eyes and heart up to who Joshua was, his love for Jesus and people, and his daily Kingdom efforts. It is an undeserving GIFT that my soon-to-be Husband lives a life rooted in scripture, anchored in belief, and has the heart desires to grow in both wisdom and in stature (Luke 2:52). So here we WED to be. Two selfish me’s start learning to think like one unified us, sharing one everything: one life, one reputation, one bed, one suffering, one budget, one family, one mission, and so forth. No barriers. No hiding. No aloofness. Now total openness with total sharing and total solidarity, until death parts us.  “What therefore God has joined together . . .” (Matthew 19:6)
