As most middle schoolers do when at a party, Lanier participated with friends in a game of truth or dare. During the game he was asked, "If you could marry anyone at your school, who would it be?" He said, "Callie Jo!" However, it was not until high school when Lanier would muster up the courage to send Callie Jo a message on Facebook (it’s what Millennials do…lol). Of course if you know Callie Jo, you know she's an all or nothing kind of gal. She answered Lanier with, “the only way I will hang out with you is if we can do something tonight”. With some of Lanier’s best buds in tow, the go-cart track became the place where their “journey” would begin. Callie Jo and Lanier still debate over who won the “first” race. Callie Jo says she won by a long shot while Lanier says he lapped her. This was the first of many “dates” to come as Callie Jo and Lanier both headed off to The Florida State University together, but it was not until her 25th Birthday that Lanier asked her that “truth or dare question”. While out for an early morning turkey hunt in the Ocklawaha River swamp just after the sun rose above the horizon, Lanier got down on one knee (and she said, “yes”). They are so excited to gather with their closest friends and family to commit to a life together until death do them part.
