In the summer of 2018, both Tyler and Callie stayed in Columbia, Missouri after their first year at Mizzou to get in-state residency. Callie was working at Smoothie King (where she so graciously gave Tyler free smoothies), and Tyler worked at the book factory with Callie’s two roommates, where most students were working (somewhat against their will). Their friendship started and continued into sophomore year, when their Greek houses were next-door neighbors (with their windows facing each other across the alley). Both majored in Finance and began taking the core business/Finance classes together and studying together. Tyler excelled in the concepts, whereas Callie excelled in the formulas, making them the perfect study buddies. Throughout sophomore year, they became closer as friends and started going to date parties together, eventually becoming official at the beginning of junior year. From there, they were inseparable. Callie would join Tyler in San Diego on some breaks, and Tyler would come to Chicago on other breaks. COVID-19 couldn’t break them apart, and FaceTime became their best friend for the nine months of quarantine until returning back to Mizzou for senior year. After graduation, Tyler moved to Washington and Callie returned to Chicago, giving them a second go at long distance. It wasn’t long before Tyler moved to Chicago, and the rest was history. After playing house in the real world for a few years, Callie and Tyler planned their first vacation abroad—to Greece in the spring of 2025. Tyler knew this was the perfect opportunity to propose. He brought the ring to every island they traveled to, but waited for the last stop: Naxos. He cautiously put the box in his Beats headphone case, with a note for TSA to be discreet just in case (Callie left him to use her TSA PreCheck regardless), and snuck it into the safe at each hotel. Without Callie getting an inkling, Tyler had planned the evening with a local photographer to propose on the beach overlooking the Temple of Apollo. Callie quite literally walked directly past the photographer (acting as an innocent bystander on the beach) and didn’t notice there was anyone else around (she was focusing on not twisting an ankle in her cute shoes). Tyler had an entire photoshoot planned afterward around just about the entire island of Naxos. And now it’s time for the Mizzou couple to get hitched. Callie and Tyler are excited to celebrate their day with all their loved ones!
