Our Story

Callie and Mike met at Texas Christian University in the Spring of 2017 through their mutual friends, Will and Mia. They started their relationship off as friends, hanging out around campus whenever they saw each other, and even took a class together sophomore year. When Mike decided to move back to Florida in 2018, he said he planned to come visit Fort Worth as much as he could, and he delivered on that promise. Mike and Callie kept in touch and enjoyed the weekends they spent together when Mike visited for different football games and fraternity events. Mike came to Fort Worth to celebrate her 21st birthday with her. On March 11th 2020 (Mike's 22nd birthday) Callie and Mike reconnected in Miami on Spring Break! Unfortunately COVID lockdowns came shortly after that trip, however, after being stuck inside for a few months, Mike decided to go on a cross-country road trip with their buddy SP. Although their final destination was Minot, North Dakota, they made pitstops in Fort Worth that came along with some big milestones in Mike and Callie’s early relationship. Callie met Pharaoh for the first time on this road trip and Mike visited Cedar Creek Lake for the first time. They decided that it was time for Callie to make the trip to Melbourne. In July, Callie visited Mike and got to meet his family and friends and explore his hometown for the first time. And so the long distance began... On September 7th 2020, after a few trips back and forth between Texas and Florida, Mike asked Callie to be his girlfriend. They told each other 'I love you!' a few months later. Long distance was made easier through countless FaceTimes, calls, texts and the convenience of two nearby international airports. A year later, Mike decided to move in with Keaton and his second family in Minot, North Dakota. Although Pharaoh wasn't so sure about the cold and plane tickets between Minot and DFW were not as easy to come by, North Dakota was such a fun and adventurous chapter of their story. One of Mike and Callie's all-time favorite days was seeing Cody Johnson at the North Dakota State Fair. Mike loved his time in Minot, but ultimately decided to move to Fort Worth to be close to Callie. So they said goodbye to long distance and moved in together on their 2-year anniversary. YAY! Since then, Mike and Callie have built a life together in Fort Worth full of amazing memories, good friends, new jobs, road trips, and lots of love. Although Mike, Callie, and Pharaoh enjoyed their time as a family of 3, they knew something was missing so they went to the Fort Worth animal shelter cat section and brought home a tiny fuzz ball princess named Billie. Mike and Callie continued to make future plans, knowing that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. And on July 24th, 2024, Mike flew all the way to Greece to surprise Callie, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him! They can't wait to celebrate their love with all of their closest friends and family next November!

The Proposal

From Callie's POV

Mom and her friends had rented a house in Mykonos for 2 weeks in July. They had an extra bedroom and invited us to join them if we were able to. Mike wasn't sure he could take that time off of work but encouraged me to go and invite some girlfriends. So my best friend Megan and I booked flights and joined Mom and Jeanette for 10 days in Mykonos. Wooo girls trip! Leading up to the trip, Mike and I had been having lots of talks about engagement and how we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together, so I knew that we were potentially getting engaged in the next year or so but never did I imagine what would happen next! On July 17th, Megan and I joined Mom, Jeanette, and Adair in Mykonos. We had an amazing week laying on the beach, shopping downtown, and puzzling at the house. Even though we were having a great trip, I was really starting to miss Mike. I specifically remember the morning of the day we got engaged looking over at Megan and saying "I miss Mike and Pharaoh so much" On July 24th, after spending the day on the beach, Megan and I had plans to take a boat transfer from the hotel to Scorpios restaurant for dinner. Once we got to Scorpios, we had about 20 minutes to kill before our table was ready, so we got a drink and went down to the daybeds by the beach. After a while, Megan said she was going to run to the restroom, so I offered get us another round of drinks but she insisted I stay where I was. I was suspiciously watching her walk up the stairs to the main level when I saw Mike coming down the stairs. Pure shock. "OMG What are you doing here?" were the only words I could get out. In a split second I realized what was happening and started to shake and cry. After hearing the sweetest words I've ever heard, Mike got down on one knee and asked me to marry him and it truly was the happiest moment of my life. After the fact, I learned the Mike had been planning to propose to me in Greece for months. Sneaky guy! He had brought mom into the plan a few weeks before and Megan found out a few days before the proposal. Mike had flown into Athens and taken the ferry to Mykonos, arriving just hours before he popped the question. Mike, Mom, Jeanette, and Adair had driven to the restaurant while Megan and I took the boat transfer. While Mike was proposing, they were all hiding a level up above and were there to celebrate with champagne and dinner after we were done hugging and crying! It was truly such a magical day and more than I could have ever dreamed of. Mike had arranged for us to have a private cliffside dinner at the hotel the next night to celebrate just the two of us. We had a magical few days in Mykonos before returning home to celebrate with the rest of our friends and family. Major shoutout to everyone that kept the surprise and made it happen!
