We finally met at the end of March 2020. Peyton and Hayden had been thinking we would be a good match, but the timing never worked out. Now with COVID shutting things down the timing finally worked out. They invited us over on Friday March 27th to hangout and make the connection. After an evening of to-go margs, a little wine, music and talking about Tech; we had all had a fun time. The next day Houston reached out and we have been in communication ever since!

Callie: We got engaged in Hawaii on the beach, Houston worked it into the family photos; so I had no idea it was coming on the trip. Because it happened during family photos my hair and makeup was done and I was not suspicious. Houston had been planning this for months, but had thrown me off leading up to the trip. Houston: Months leading up to the trip my my Mom and I worked together looking for rings, planning the delivery of the ring, and planning how the proposal would happen. After gathering some ring ideas from Callie weeks before we sat out on our journey to find the perfect ring. This happened to be at our first stop in Dallas creating a seamless process and a perfect ring! From there came the plan to include the photographer who would take our yearly family vacation pictures ,which happened to fall on the night of my parents 40th wedding anniversary. My Mom coordinated everything with the photographer to keep Callie from knowing anything about a proposal. She kept the ring close to her side the entire time we were traveling and kept it locked in a safe inside her and my Dad's hotel room in Hawaii. On that Tuesday of the trip it all came together as the photographer started with some groups shots up in the hotel which at one point he pulled me aside assuring me he was aware of the plan and quickly told me the next steps. After the groups shots we walked down to the beach for more pictures with family and couples. As Callie was distracted I snuck the ring box from the photographers bag and we then began our couples pictures. After a few pictures I made the move, one knee and one question. Callie was completely shocked and almost speechless at first but after a brief moment she said yes!! The rest of the night was spent taking lots of pictures, sending lots of texts, and celebrating with family!
