How We Met

March, 2009

My first memory of Chadd is from soon after my family moved to Canyon, TX. We were in the fifth grade and I had just started school in the middle of the semester. Trying to get involved, my mom volunteered to help Chadd's mom sell t-shirts with the PTA. Chadd and I were just along for the ride to help our moms. I have a very clear memory of Chadd playing in a cardboard box that the t-shirts had been in. I thought he was pretty cute. Our first experience with a relationship was short lived and in the sixth grade, but we continued to always be close friends. Fast forward through several years of friendship and many hours spent traveling to stock-shows together, to March of 2015 when Chadd asked me to be his date to junior prom. We have been inseparable ever since!

The Proposal

April 27th, 2019

I planned to propose to Callie by flying her to Lakeway, TX on a surprise trip. It took her about two hours, out of the two and a half hour flight, to figure out were we were going. Upon landing I talked Callie into taking a jacket so it would be less obvious that I was taking my jacket to hide her ring in it, it was 85 degrees outside. Then, while I was tying down the airplane, Callie was just trying to be helpful and picked up my jacket, and plop, there goes the ring box. Making the best out of the worst case scenario, we went to take a picture after a nice lunch at the Oasis on Lake Travis. What she didn't know was that we weren't just taking any old picture. I surprised her by getting on one knee and asking her to spend the rest of our lives together. We finished our day by renting kayaks and then making the long trip back home, having to dodge storms. Let's just say that by time we got back to Lubbock she was very happy to have both feet on solid ground!
