Brandon was an Engineer. Calli was an Engineer. With the help of roommates and siblings, they met, fell in love, and got a dog.
It started in July of 2016. Calli was on the couch googling "PRETTIEST MARATHONS" for motivation to get off the couch. She came across the Big Sur Marathon and decided she was going to run it - the best impulse decision she's ever made. Due to the popularity of the race, you put your name into a lottery and hope they pick you. Calli turned to Brandon and said: "Hey I'm going to Run a Marathon. Do you want to run it?" "Uhhh..." So she threw his name in the lottery too. They both thought "What are the chances?" Two days later, they found out they made the cut! They were both overwhelmed with initial excitement followed by anxiety and realization that they now had to actually run a Marathon. Calli was looking up training plans. Meanwhile, Brandon had bigger plans. Four months of training brought them to the starting line on the California Coast on April 30th, 2017. That morning before the race, Calli was reflecting on her training time and was ready to crush her goal and complete her first marathon. She assumed Brandon was also reflecting and mentally preparing for the race, although he was focused on something much bigger than 26.2 miles. The two started the race at different times, ran different paces, and somehow crossed paths at 26 miles. They both finished the last fifth of a mile together, pushing each other to the finish. They crossed the finish line, got their medals, picked up some donuts and bananas, and camped out by a race tent. Their best friends came down from San Fransisco to see them, and brought flowers. "How sweet" Calli said to Addison, "You didn't have to bring those!" Addison smiled, and handed them to Calli. Brandon proceeded to say some super sweet, mushy things to Calli. He got on one knee, with a ring that made it the 26.2 miles with him, and asked a very important question... ...and she said yes.
