We first met in September 2024 on the steps of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Greenwich Village. Patrick introduced himself, struck up a conversation, and invited Hannah to a barbecue and open mic night. And just like that, we went our separate ways…without exchanging numbers. A month later, we unexpectedly ran into each other again at an Oktoberfest party (shoutout to the McNamaras for hosting). A twenty-minute conversation made it clear that something special was there…lingering and unmistakable. Still, no numbers were exchanged, and another month passed. In November 2024, Hannah traveled to Mexico City for a dear friend’s wedding (thank you, Arduras!) and had the opportunity to go on pilgrimage to Our Lady of Guadalupe on November 1st. There, she prayed for her future husband through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother. Meanwhile, across the continent, Patrick was hosting an All Saints’ Day party dressed as St. Juan Diego (yes, that Juan Diego, the one who encountered Our Lady of Guadalupe). God truly works in funny and beautiful ways. When Hannah returned home to New York, her wonderful roommate Tina and Tina’s boyfriend Joey (now fiancé—hey now!) had spoken with Patrick while she was away and thought it might be time to get us in the same room again. Numbers were finally exchanged, the first date happened less than a week later (Shoutout to the Perez-Benzos for the great French restaurant recommendation), and less than two weeks after that, we were officially together. On November 1, 2025, one year to the day after that pilgrimage, Patrick proposed to Hannah in the place we lovingly call the “truth chairs,” where some of our most meaningful conversations had taken place and where we shared our stories, our hearts, and the foundations of our relationship. Hannah was completely surprised and absolutely over the moon. Our relationship has been filled with laughter, silliness, sweetness, and joy, rooted in a deep reliance on God and the intercession of the Holy Family (shoutout to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph). And this is only the beginning of the plans the Lord has for us and our future family. May our wedding day be the day we love one another the least, for there is only greater love to pour out from our union, by, with, and through God. We are so happy you are here to be part of our story, and we humbly ask you to continue to pray for us as we prepare for marriage. Holy Family, Pray for Us 🤍
