Katelyn grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner!) and attended Oral Roberts University for college and graduate school. Katelyn currently works as a Marriage and Family Therapist In Denver, Colorado. Sam grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and attended The University of Kansas for college where he studied civil engineering (Rock Chalk, Jayhawk!). Sam’s job as a Senior Project Manager for a construction & engineering firm has taken him all over the country for work, with his current projects residing in Northern California. We currently live in Northern California and are enjoying everything that it has to offer. We enjoy going on walks with our dog Bandit, biking down to our local farmers market on the weekends, spending the day relaxing at the beach, and weekend trips to wine country!

While both living in Tulsa, OK we met in February of 2019, and our life-long adventure together began! Just a short 8-months into our relationship, Sam’s job moved him to Chicago. We dated long distance between Tulsa and Chicago for roughly a year and half, cherishing all of the weekend visits & FaceTime calls. We both have always had an adventurous spirit and desire to travel. This has lead to many memorable trips and experiences that we will cherish for a lifetime. One of the most memorable being when we traveled to Paris, France and celebrated the new year and new love. Yes, this is where Sam told Katelyn he loved her for the first time. In April of 2021, we moved to Northern California together and Katelyn finally got her dream of living by the ocean!

What started out as an adventurous trip to the Hawaiian island of Kauai, was soon to have the most unforgettable ending in Sam & Katelyn’s journey. Katelyn had a feeling that this trip was going to be special, but was still caught off-guard by what came next. The day started as any day in Hawaii does; Driving around the island with the top-down in a convertible, snorkeling at Anini Beach, and exploring Waimea Canyon. On the drive down Waimea canyon Sam pulled over on the side of the road so they could watch the sunset together. There was nothing particularly special about that spot and the sun was setting fast so Katelyn never imagined it happening there. As they were watching the sun set Sam turned Katelyn around, got down on one knee, and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. She screamed YES! Many happy tears were shed and so much joy experienced!
